Digital information is increasingly important to our culture, knowledge base and economy. The Handbook, first compiled by Neil Beagrie and Maggie Jones in 2001, is maintained and updated by the DPC. This full revision (the 2nd Edition) has expanded and updated content to cover over 30 major sections (see Contents). The 2nd edition was compiled with input from 45 practitioners and experts in digital preservation under the direction of Neil Beagrie as managing editor and William Kilbride as chair of the Management and Advisory Boards. The Handbook provides an internationally authoritative and practical guide to the subject of managing digital resources over time and the issues in sustaining access to them. It will be of interest to all those involved in the creation and management of digital materials

Getting Started with Digital Preservation' introduces delegates to common digitial preservation concepts and issues before walking them through the firsts steps they can take to manage their digital assets. This includes bit-level preservation, assessing their digital preservation maturity, undertaking a risk management exercise and creating a digital asset register.

Part of The National Archives’ new digital capacity building strategy, ‘Plugged In, Powered Up,’ the Novice to Know-How learning pathway aims to provide beginners with the skills required to develop and implement simple digital preservation workflows within their organisation. It starts with a broad introduction to digital preservation issues and describes the measures we can take to address these. It then delves into potential workflows in more detail, examining the issues to consider, steps to take, and technological solutions that can deployed. An emphasis is placed on free, easy-to-use solutions, and includes detailed demos of how to use the key tool, DROID. Course content is provided as mix of video, text, and quizzes.

The document describes the design of a new, cross-domain infrastructure for improving the usability of digital heritage information beyond the boundaries of archives, libraries, museums and research institutes. The design is high-level because it describes the distributed network, not for instance ist organizational or technical considerations.

This course equips digital preservation professionals with a range of skills relating to various aspects of receiving, handling, and managing digital content. Participants will learn about key digital preservation concepts, how to prepare digital materials for preservation, to approach workflow development for digital preservation and will learn about current tools for working with digital materials.

The Event management webinar will focus on practical aspects of event organisation within EU research projects and will guide you through some of the most important considerations and criteria for events funded from EU projects. The webinar will also cover communication and promotion and will give you practical tips to promote your event and efficiently communicate its outcomes. At the end of webinar you will be able to download the practical guidelines for your future events.

This webinar will provide a practical look at course design and delivery, giving guidance on the key elements you need to consider to ensure your training meets the needs of your intended audience. It will also provide some tips for successful delivery and a brief look at how you can assess the impact your training has in the short and long term.

As it plays a key role for the DPC to empower and develop their members’ workforces, this page provides access to different training resources that aim to provide beginners with the skills required to develop and implement simple digital preservation workflows within their organisation.

The strength of the Australasia Preserves community comes from its grass-roots passion to share. Australasia Preserves recognised education and training for digital preservation as a top priority from its beginning. At its first meeting in February 2018 there was discussion around the idea of developing ‘digital preservation carpentry’ lessons. Throughout 2018 more discussion and activities revealed the importance of making sure digital preservation concepts were tightly coupled with tool experimentation. A survey to find out what people were interested in learning most was carried out.
 
 A digital preservation carpentry workshop was piloted in February 2019 at the 14th International Digital Curation Conference. Community discussion at the Australasia Preserves February 2019 monthly online meeting resulted in a decision to convene a working group on digital preservation education comprising educators and professionals. Its aim was to further develop and finalise the digital preservation carpentry workshop, and to develop a more formal educational framework for designing and delivering digital preservation training. Material will be hosted by the Digital Preservation Coalition (DPC) and will also be available to communities in other parts of the world. The activities of the working group are actively helping to improve digital preservation practice training and education in the Australasian region.

In The new social learning blog, suggestions for online training and toolkits and for designing online or blended learning are made. A new generation of tools that enriches the toolset of online facilitators is listed.
